Senior named to ACC All-Preseason Team
Hey Cards fans!!!
This is Janelle Jenkins #23.
Today was the day to mentally prepare for our season of Fall 2016!!! Just to give a little background about myself I am a 5th year senior and this would be my last preseason with the Louisville volleyball team as a player. Its bittersweet because my body wants me to slow down but my mind won't let it.
Anyways to start off the day, the team and I had our jump testing with our strength coach and we all were flying today. After some high numbers we all got Starbucks before our first meeting with coaches and staff. As we entered into the meeting room we had an early Christmas surprise!! We received some outstanding Adidas gear to help us look fresh for practice and games this fall. The material and designs were amazing and we were elated to have our own customized shirts, shoes, and pants. After being filled with joy we had to get back to business. Â
Our liaison between academics and athletics inspired us with the story of Athena, a Greek goddess, and her wisdom. Then compliance spoke to us on how to stay on top of finances and what we are eligible to do. This was a long day for the girls because they also had class and exams to prepare for; so we took a break from meetings to attend to other obligations. During the break I meet up with Lyndsay Palmer to help her move into her new place and hang out. We had a great time talking about volleyball and our goals for our last season as seniors.Â
As the day wound down, we met as a team again to go over team goals and expectations. We learned that as long as we have effort and focus we can learn how to be a fundamentally sound team. Everyone is diligent in their work and only want what is best. As we ended the last meeting we played games and talked about improving this season. It was a very long day but we are now equipped to succeed for the rest of this preseason.
