Setters getting ready for 2016
Hey Cards Fans,
Â
Its Lyndsay here! Â Today is Day 6 of Preseason and we started of with a great and nutritious breakfast, provided for us by our great staff and nutritionist Nick.
Â
Then we started our first session of with our setter training. We have this every day in the morning for 30 min before practice. Our setter training is fast paced and requires a high level of focus. In this training are main focus is on our hands and footwork, two very important aspects in a setter. Then we start our normal practice. We begin with ball control warm-up and defense. These will play key roles in our success this year so we are constantly working hard to make every touch better.
Â
After our first session, we get a much needed regen from our amazing trainer Nicole, who plays a instrumental role in keeping us as healthy as possible. Then we headed off to lunch at our new stunning athlete-only eating facility, Thornton's. I am blown away by the amazing food they provide for us and what this university does to help their athletes be successful on and off the court.
Â
Then our second session starts. And this one we really needed to fight through to work and get better. We put a heavy focus on offense and implemented a lot of new things. So being as competitive as we are, we get frustrated when things are not clicking. But we help each other out with encouragement to get each other through those tough moments and I am so proud to see how our girls worked through that frustration.
Â
We ended with a evening team talk, which is crucial for teams to have to bond which will make us mesh better on the court. This is where we are open and honest with each other with no judgment so we can all progress together as a whole. Because we are a team and all of our successes and failure will be together.
Â
Ready to get back at it tomorrow.
