Freshman talks about the first full day of practice.
Hi Cardinal Fans!!Â
I'd like to introduce myself. I am Melanie McHenry, a freshman from Speedway, Ind.Â
Day #1 of Preseason is in the books for the University of Louisville volleyball team. I'm not going to lie, I worried I might pass out or something when everybody else told me that preseason is the toughest thing I will ever encounter. In all honesty day 1 really wasn't that bad and I didn't pass out. Waking up at 5 a.m. isn't going to be on the top of my list of favorites for today but that is how we started the day out.
The first session of preseason was mostly defense and passing, which I need some work on so I was happy to be able to do that. Then after that we had a break but I had a final to study for, and let's just say I feel super good about taking that test. All the freshman and I went back to Yum to grab some lunch because we don't have anything in our fridges back at Bettie. I think the highlight of the day for me would be the second session because we got to play some 6 on 6. It felt amazing to be on the court with everybody and to start getting use to playing with them on the court. After the second session was over, taking ice baths was on the schedule, and let me just tell you that was the coldest my toes have ever been.
Overall it was a great first day of preseason for the team and I can't wait to see what the season has in store for us this year.
I look forward to seeing you all at our home opener!Â
Go Cards!!Â
Melanie
