Bennett Signs with Men's Tennis
June 10, 2016 | Men's Tennis
British standout Daniel Bennett will join the Cards in the fall of 2016
University of Louisville men's tennis coach Rex Ecarma has announced that Daniel Bennett has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Cardinals starting in the fall of the 2016-17 season.
"I am happy to include Daniel Bennett to our roster next season," said Ecarma. "He is an accomplished British player who traveled some with the Great Britain national team. He has had success in British National, ITF juniors and ITF Futures tournaments."
Bennett joins the Cardinals from Sunderland, England where he is currently No. 254 in the International Tennis Federation (ITF) World Junior Rankings. The Grindon Hall Christian School graduate reached the finals of the Stabekk Junior International in Norway and the semifinals of the High Coast Junior World Ranking ITF in Sweden and the Nike Juniors International Nottingham. He was also a singles quarterfinalist in the Aphrodite Cup and the Donnybrook ITF.
Bennett also brings an impressive doubles resume to Louisville after winning the Herodotou ITF in Cyprus, reaching the finals of the Donnybrook ITF and the quarterfinals of the Nike Junior International Queenwood.
"With almost all of his tennis on outdoor and indoor hard courts, his transition to college tennis should be easy," said Ecarma. "Also, being at some tennis academies, he has spent time away from home which helps with that freshman transition year. Lastly, he is not only a good player but a tough competitor, which is needed with a competition schedule like ours."
