Cason Finishes Season at NCAA Championship

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Louisville freshman Olivia Cason concluded her impressive freshman campaign on Sunday night tied for 45th through three rounds of play at the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship in Eugene, Ore.
Cason, the third player in program history to qualify for the national championship as an individual, shot an even-par 72 in the third round and registered a composite score of 4-over-par 220 at the Eugene Country Club. She fell two strokes shy of advancing to the final round of stroke play on Monday to compete for the individual national title.
The Owensboro, Ky., native opened the day with a birdie on No. 10 and then putted for par on 10-consecutive holes. Despite hitting her first bogey of the day on No. 3, she rebounded with a remarkable birdie on No. 4, a par-5, 518-yard hole. She struck two more bogeys before ending the day – and tournament run – with a birdie on No. 9.
The 5-foot-5 golfer played in nine events in her first collegiate season, wrapping up the year with a 75.28 scoring average and four top-10 showings.
