Women's Lacrosse Falls 13-10 at No. 4 Syracuse in Regular Season Finale

Cortnee Daley led the Cardinals with five goals
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The No. 8/9 University of Louisville women's lacrosse team fell 13-10 to No. 4/5 Syracuse on Saturday afternoon in their regular season finale at the Carrier Dome.
Senior Cortnee Daley paced the Cardinals with five goals while fellow teammates Hannah Koloski and Madison Hoover added two goals apiece.
Syracuse finished with 25-20 shots advantage for the game and also won the draw with a 16-9 advantage. The Orange also had a slight 15-13 edge in ground balls.
Syracuse jumped out to an early 3-0 lead before the Madison Hoover scored on an unassisted goal at the 18:10 mark to put the Cardinals on the board. Senior Cortnee Daley cut the deficit to one with a free position goal at the 13:24 mark.
The Orange scored two goals in a minute span to take a 5-2 lead. Daley scored on a free position and Koloski cashed in on an unassisted goal to put the Cardinals back within one with less than nine minutes remaining in the half. Syracuse then scored the next three goals before Hoover scored at the 2:39 mark to give the Orange an 8-5 lead at the break.
The two teams traded goals out of the half with Daley scoring her third goal of the game to cut the deficit to two. After a Syracuse goal, Koloski scored her second goal of the game on a free position attempt at the 23:13 mark to pull back within two.
Daley scored her fourth and fifth goals of the game followed by a goal by Jillian Balog that brought the Cardinals back within one. The Orange controlled possession for most of the final minutes and added insurance goals for the 13-10 win.
In the cage, Kelly Gielner had four saves on the afternoon and Syracuse's Allie Murray had five saves.
Morissette had a team-high four draw controls and four ground balls.
Next up for the Cardinals will be the ACC Championships held at Blacksburg, Va., on the campus of Virginia Tech.
