Katie Mitchell used a 3-under-par 69 to finish the tournament in 13th place.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Louisville redshirt senior Katie Mitchell fired a 3-under-par 69 on Sunday in the final round of the ACC Championship and led the Cardinals to a seventh-place finish in Greensboro, N.C.
Mitchell's final round is tied for the third-best score by an individual at a conference championship in school history and the best mark since Emily Haas shot a 4-under-par 68 in the second round of the 2013 BIG EAST Championship. Mitchell putted six times for birdie, while logging a 2-under-par through the front nine. Overall, Mitchell's 4-over-par 220 is tied for the 10th-best performance by a Cardinal at a league championship.
Collectively, the Cardinals rebounded from a slow start at the Sedgefield Country Club. Louisville, which was competing in just its second ACC Championship, completed the event with a 34-over-par 898. The Cardinals finished ahead of No. 19 Florida State and No. 37 Notre Dame, while Virginia captured its second-consecutive team title.
The Cardinals tied for the fourth-best final round score in the 12-team field with a 4-over-par 292, the fourth-best mark of any round by a Louisville team at a conference championship.
Molly Skapik capped the event tied for 24th after carding a 3-over-par 75 on the final day, giving the sophomore a three-day score of 8-over-par 224. She chipped in for par on 13 holes and had one birdie.
Senior Laura Restrepo tied for 33rd, a significant improvement from her opening round. Restrepo, who mirrored her second-round score with a 1-over-par 73, had a solid showing on the back nine. She totaled two birdies that resulted in a 1-under-par on the back stretch and concluded the tournament at 11-over-par 227.
Louise Oxner had the Cardinals' fourth-best round on Sunday, with a 3-over-par 75. The junior had par on 35 holes over the three-day stretch, tied for the sixth most in the 60-player field, and placed 47th.
Freshman Ellen Kehoe remained consistent over the course of her first championship, shooting a 4-over-par 76 for the third-consecutive day. She tied for 37th.
Louisville now awaits the announcement of the NCAA Regional Championships field on April 25, which will be held at four sites from May 5-7 (Stanford, Calif.; Bryan, Texas; Baton Rouge, La.; Shoal Creek, Ala.).
