Women’s Golf Moves into Sixth at Briar’s Creek Invitational

Laura Restrepo is tied for fifth on the leaderboard through two rounds.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Laura Restrepo shot a 3-under-par 141 through two rounds of play, and the University of Louisville women's golf team is sixth at the Briar's Creek Invitational in Johns Island, S.C.
Restrepo, who is tied for fifth, opened Monday's competition with an eagle on a par-5 529-yard hole and added three birdies to her first round for a season-best 4-under-par 68. It's her lowest round total since she clubbed a 5-under-par 67 twice during her sophomore season. The senior followed with a 1-over-par 73 in the second round of play, putting in five more birdies.
Louise Oxner also had a solid first round for the Cardinals, who own a two-round score of 8-over-par 584 – 11 strokes behind clubhouse leader Florida.
Oxner shot two birdies – compared to just one bogey – and finished her first 18 with a 1-under-par 71. In the second round, she registered a 3-over-par 75 and slid into a tie for 21st with a 2-over-par 146. She is leading the 93-player field with 29 pars.
Katie Mitchell carded a 4-over-par 148, bouncing back in the second round with a 1-over-par 73, and is tied for 36th. Ellen Kehoe produced the team's fourth-best score, tying for 50th behind a 6-over-par 150.
Louisville returns to action for the final round on Tuesday, teeing off with East Carolina and Clemson at 8:45 a.m. ET.
