LOUISVILLE, Ky. – After more than a two-week hiatus, the University of Louisville women's golf team is returning to action against a stellar 18-team field in the Briar's Creek Invitational this week.
The Cardinals begin competition on Monday at The Golf Club at Briar's Creek in Johns Island, S.C., facing seven teams that are currently in the top 50 in the latest Golfstat rankings. Teams will play 36 holes on Monday, beginning at 8:30 a.m. ET, and conclude with 18 holes on Tuesday.
Louisville, which is utilizing Laura Restrepo, Ellen Kehoe, Katie Mitchell, Louise Oxner, and Olivia Cason, is paired with Campbell and East Carolina on Monday.
The Cardinals are coming off a ninth-place finish at the Hurricane Invitational in south Florida. The team compiled a 21-over-par 873, and Restrepo led the team, tying for 14th.
Restrepo is continuing to pace the Cardinals in stroke average (72.95) and is tied with Mitchell – she boasts a 73.77 stroke average – for most top-10 finishes with four. Both also have produced individual victories this season.
Kehoe, who has just played in 13 rounds this season, had a terrific showing last time out at the Hurricane Invitational. The freshman, who is fourth on the team with a 75.62 stroke average, tied for 20th in the last tournament with a season-best 3-over-par 216.
