Women’s Golf Finishes Seventh at Briar’s Creek Invitational

Laura Restrepo tied for ninth behind a 2-under-par 214.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Laura Restrepo tied for ninth, earning her fifth top-10 finish of the season, and the University of Louisville women's golf team placed seventh at the Briar's Creek Invitational on Tuesday in Johns Island, S.C.
Restrepo shot a 73 for a 2-under-par 214, her best three-round score since her sophomore season, when twice she clubbed a 4-under-par 212. The senior, who totaled 13 birdies in the tournament after five in the final round, finished ahead of multiple highly ranked golfers, including the second-ranked player in the nation according to Golfstat.
Collectively, the Cardinals posted a 2-over-par 290 on the final day at The Golf Club at Briar's Creek and concluded the two-day event with a 10-over-par 874. Statistically, Louisville boasted the second-best average on par-4 holes with a 4.09.
Louise Oxner and Katie Mitchell each placed in the top 30 for the Cardinals. Oxner clubbed an even-par 72 in the final round, finishing with a 2-over-par 218 and tying for 21st. Mitchell rebounded from Monday's performance with a 1-under-par in the third round and improved nine positions on the leaderboard, tying for 27th behind a 3-over-par 219.
Ellen Kehoe, the team's No. 4 scorer, carded an 8-over-par 224 and tied for 49th.
Louisville resumes spring competition in less than two weeks, when it travels to the west coast and plays in the Silverado Showdown in Napa, Calif. The three-day event begins on April 3 and is being played on the Silverado North Course.
