
Women’s Golf Tied for Fifth at Silverado Showdown

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Sophomore Molly Skapik and senior Laura Restrepo each earned top-10 showings and helped the University of Louisville women's golf team to a fifth-place tie on Sunday through one round at the Silverado Showdown in Napa, Calif.
Skapik, currently tied for fourth in the 93-player field, sits just four strokes behind the leader after shooting a 1-under-par 71. It is her sixth round even or below par this year. She registered a 2-under-par through the front nine, tallying three birdies, while finishing just one over par for the final nine holes.
Restrepo recorded an even-par 72, putting her in a seven-way tie for ninth. She putted for par on every hole through the first nine before hitting a bogey on No. 11. She responded with a birdie on the next hole, helping her log her ninth round even or below par. Restrepo has the second-most pars in the field with 16.
Collectively, Louisville compiled a 6-over-par 294 at the Silverado North Course and is tied with Pepperdine. The Cardinals are one stroke behind 23rd-ranked Oregon, while holding a six-stroke advantage on 15th-ranked California. Stanford is leading the pack with a 2-under-par 286.
Katie Mitchell has the third-best score on the team, tallying a 3-over-par 75 and is tied for 36th. The senior had a slow start, hitting three bogeys over her first nine holes, but started the back nine with her first birdie of the day. She added another birdie over her next five holes and concluded the back nine at even.
Freshman Jacqueline Twitty rounded out the top-four scorers after shooting a 4-over-par 76. She is tied for 46th.
The Cardinals return to action for the second round on Monday, teeing off with Oregon and Pepperdine at 11:39 a.m. ET.
