Hankenson, Zielonka and Mutter break the pentathlon school record
Akron, Ohio – Louisville's Holly Hankenson, Mara Zielonka and Linda Mutter led the Cardinals at the Akron Invitational on Friday evening, breaking the pentathlon school record. Hankenson finished with 3903 points, Zielonka finished with 3776 points and Mutter finished with 3737 points, breaking the school record of 3621 set by Kelly Faber in 2004.
Hankenson was the top finisher for the Cardinals in the pentathlon, finishing second with 3903 points. She won the 60m hurdles with a personal best time of 8.62. She finished eighth in the high jump with a mark of 1.56m and second in the shot put with a distance of 11.36m. She also finished second in the long jump with a personal best mark of 5.68m and second in the 800m with a time of 2:14.92.
Zielonka finished fourth in the pentathlon with 3776 points. She finished ninth in the 60m hurdles with a personal best time of 9.05 and second in the high jump with a personal best mark of 1.71m. Zielonka finished fourth in the shot put, tying teammate Mutter with a distance of 11.16m. She finished third in the long jump with a mark of 5.66m and finished 11th in the 800m run with a time of 2:33.02.
Mutter finished sixth in the pentathlon for the Cardinals with 3737 points. She finished 11th in the 60m hurdles with a personal best time of 9.15. She finished third in the high jump with a personal best mark of 1.68m and finished fourth in the shot put, tying teammate Zielonka with a distance of 11.16m. She finished eighth in the long jump with 5.41m and finished fourth in the 800m run with a time of 2:25.69.
Eric Fox and Marcus Motill completed four events in the heptathlon on Friday evening. Fox currently stands in fourth place with 2861 points while Motill is 12th with 2539 points.
Fox finished 13th in the 60m with a personal best time of 7.42 and finished ninth in the long jump with a personal best distance of 6.54m. He finished fifth in the shot put with a mark of 12.83 and second in the high jump, clearing a personal best of 1.95m.
Motill finished fifth in the 60m with a season best time of 7.19. He finished ninth in the long jump with a distance of 6.11m and finished ninth in the shot put with a personal best mark of 11.25m. He finished 12th in the high jump, clearing 1.71m.
Both Fox and Motill will wrap up competition in the heptathlon tomorrow. Emmonnie Henderson and Dolly Nyemah will compete in throws while Chanel Krause, Jade Hawkins and Morgan Zacharias will compete in the pole vault.
The Louisville men's 4x400m relay team will also compete at the Meyo Invitational tomorrow.
