Cards Begin Heptathlon at Texas Relays

AUSTIN, Texas – The University of Louisville track & field teams opened up their week of competition on Wednesday, as a pair of athletes contested the first four events of the women's heptathlon at the Texas Relays.
Lucy Fellows accumulated a total of 3,344 points that puts her in sixth place after the first day of competition, while Maya Follmer sits in 17th with 2,348 points.
Fellows recorded marks of 14.43 (+3.4) in the 100m hurdles, 1.64m (5-4.5) in the high jump, and 12.30m (40-4.25) in the shot put before closing out the day with a personal-best time of 24.20 in the 200m that moves her up to seventh in program history in the event.
Follmer notched wind-aided times of 14.13 (+3.0) in the 100m hurdles and 25.12 (+2.6) in the 200m, while notably recording a personal-best shot put mark of 9.74m (31-11.5) in the shot put.
The Texas Relays will roll on tomorrow with the continuation of the women's heptathlon set to begin the second day of competition in Austin at 11:00 a.m. ET. The Louisville jumpers are also set to compete tomorrow at the Bobcat Invitational for the first of three days of action in San Marcos, Texas.
