Cards finish with nine event wins and two new school records
BIRMINGHAM, ALA. - The University of Louisville track and field teams finished with wins at the Samford Invitational on Friday. The women finished the day with 108.5 points while the men finished with 117.5 points for a Cardinal sweep in Birmingham. The Cardinals finished the day with two new school records and nine event wins.
"Our trip to Birmingham was an outstanding set up for the ACC Championships in two weeks," said head coach Dale Cowper. "I'm very pleased with the way our squads handled today's competition. We have a few areas to tighten up over the next couple of weeks but I'm excited about the trajectory we are on."
Chanel Krause continued to impress, breaking her school own school record in the pole vault for the second straight week. Krause won the event with a new personal best and school record mark of 4.30m/14-01.25. Her mark was a meet record and currently ranks eighth in the nation. She passed her previous record of 4.20m/13-9.25 set last weekend at the Akron Invitational.
