SERIES
•   Louisville has a 4-9 record in the all-time series against Virginia, which began in 1924.
•   The Cardinals are 1-4 against the Cavaliers since joining the ACC and have lost three straight overall.
•   Louisville moved to 3-5 all-time at home against Virginia.Â
TEAM
•   Louisville dropped its conference-opening game for the first time since the 2011-12 season (71-68 loss to Georgetown on Dec. 28, 2011) ending a stretch of four consecutive wins.
•   The Cardinals have a 10-6 record in conference-openers under head coach Rick Pitino.
•   Louisville lost at home for the first time this season (8-1) and fell to 107-15 all-time at the KFC Yum! Center, now in its seventh season as the home of the Cardinals.Â

•   The Cardinals were outrebounded (31-26) for just the second time this season.
PLAYER
•   Graduate student Tony Hicks played a season-high 19 minutes and was one of three Louisville players to finish with a team-high eight points.
•   Hicks equaled a season-high with four made field goals matching the total against Eastern Kentucky on Dec. 17.
•   Sophomore Ray Spalding had a team-high six rebounds marking the fifth time this season and the 13th time in his career he has finished with six or more rebounds in a game.
•   With two blocked shots on Wednesday, junior Anas Mahmoud has registered at least one blocked shot in each of his 10 games this season and in 14 straight games overall dating back to last season.
•   Mahmoud also matched a season-high with two assists.
•   Wednesday's contest marked the first time Mangok Mathiang has not attempted a shot in a game in which he has played since March 4, 2015 against Notre Dame.
