Bio
Sophomore Year:
- Started five games at power forward as a sophomore and was one of three Cardinals to play in all 34 games.
- 2017 All-ACC Academic Men’s Basketball team selection, earning the recognition for the second straight year.
- Over the last six games of the season, Spalding averaged 8.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, shot 72.4 percent from the field (21-of-29) and blocked four shots.
- In conference games only, he ranked 16th in the ACC in rebounding (6.3).
- Second on the team with 21 dunks.
- Recorded his second career double-double, tying a career-high with 18 points and pulling down 11 rebounds against Syracuse on Feb. 26. He was 8-of-9 from the field while also dishing out two assists and recording two steals.
- Grabbed at least four rebounds in 26 games as a sophomore and had eight double-figure scoring efforts, including 11 points against Jacksonville State in the NCAA First Round.
- Tied his career-high with 12 rebounds against Georgia Tech while scoring six points, blocking two shots and collecting two steals in 26 minutes played.
- Scored 14 points against Grand Canyon, including 12 in the second half.
- Matched a career-best with three assists vs. Long Beach State, adding 10 points, six rebounds, two blocked shots and two steals.

Freshman Year:
- Finished his freshman season averaging 5.6 points and 4.3 rebounds per game as a valuable reserve and a starter in six games.

- Named to the 2016 All-ACC Academic Men’s Basketball team, one of a league-high seven Cardinals selected for the honor.
- Scored 12 points against Virginia on Jan. 30, one of his five double-figure scoring efforts of the season.
- Made his first collegiate start against Grand Canyon, totaling eight points, seven rebounds and two blocked shots in 14 minutes.
- Scored in double figures in back-to-back games in November, scoring a total of 30 points while connecting on 14-of-17 shots from the field (.824).
- Missed UofL’s Feb. 24 game at Pitt with a groin injury.
- Played in all seven games during the Cards’ trip to Puerto Rico in August 2015. He scored a high of 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds vs. the Puerto Rico Junior Team.
- His 7-6 wingspan aids him in leading the team in deflections in nearly every practice.
- His uncle Manuel Forrest played for Louisville (1981-82, 1983-85), who averaged 12.8 points and 5.0 rebounds his senior year with the Cardinals.
High School:
- Averaged 13.0 points, 8.7 rebounds and 3.1 blocked shots during the 2014-15 season for Trinity High School, which was the top-ranked team in the state before falling in the Seventh Region semifinals. Spalding had 10 points, 10 rebounds and six blocked shots in the season-ending loss to Ballard.
- Two-time first team all-state selection who led Trinity to a 24-6 record as a senior and a 118-21 record in his four-year career. He was the KABC regional co-player of the year.
- Was ranked No. 26 nationally by 247Sports.com, No. 31 by Scout.com (No. 5 power forward), No. 55 in the ESPN 100, and No. 63 by Rivals.com.
- Member of the Kentucky All-Star team, totaling 10 points and five rebounds playing only in the second game of the annual Kentucky-Indiana all-star series.
- Totaled six points and six rebounds for the White team in the 2015 Kentucky Derby Festival Classic all-star game.
- Averaged 13.4 points, 10.3 rebounds and 3.3 blocked shots as a junior in helping Trinity post a 31-6 record and reach the semifinals of the Kentucky state championship.
- His AAU team “The Ville” beat the Albany (N.Y.) City Rocks to win the 11th grade AAU National Championship played in Louisville. Spalding was the MVP of the title game after totalling 15 points, eight rebounds, five blocked shots and two steals.
- Chose to attend Louisville after also considering offers from Indiana, Tennessee, Xavier and Clemson.
