Cards Earn 101-52 Win in Baha Mar Hoops Summer League Exhibition Game

Louisville defeated the Bahamas Raw Talent team, outscoring it 55-22 in the second half
NASSAU, Bahamas – University of Louisville men's basketball got to action early this season with a 101-52 exhibition game victory over the Bahamas Raw Talent team on Tuesday afternoon in the Baha Mar Hoops Summer League at the Baha Mar Resort.
"It's just nice to play against somebody else," said head coach Pat Kelsey on the exhibition. "We've been beating the heck out of each other the last couple of months. All we've been harping on is business trip, business trip, business trip. At the time our guys got together two months ago right there at the beginning of June, we laid out our vision for what we wanted to accomplish this summer. And the majority of that was done before came down here. It was those additional practices that we got, just to be able to play against somebody else is a good thing. It's a really short trip. We tried to make it about business, and business only, and I thought our guys did a great job."
Louisville opened up the contest with a thunderous dunk by junior newcomer Flory Bidunga. The Cardinals then pushed their lead up to six before the Bahamas team hit back-to-back 3-pointers.
The Bahamas hung around before Louisville really caught fire. A layup by Bidunga followed by a corner 3-pointer by Álvaro Folgueiras sparked a 20-3 run, that included 15 straight points where five Cardinals contributed. Senior London Johnson finished off the run with six points of his own.
The Cardinals held a 46-30 lead at the break. Bidunga led Louisville in scoring with 10 points while tacking on six boards, six blocks and three assists in 17 first-half minutes.
Louisville kept turning up the heat to start the second half, stringing together nine straight points to extend its lead to 24 points at 55-31 by the 16:24 mark.
The offense didn't stop there as Louisville closed the last 8:23 of the game on a 25-4 run that resulted in a final score of 101-52.
The Cards improved their shooting marks over the course of the game. Louisville shot 37.8% from the floor in the first half with a 29.4% mark from the 3-point line; it improved to shoot 51.5% from the field in the second half, going 9 of 17 for 52.9% from the arc.
Louisville put an emphasis on the glass, outrebounding the Bahamas 49-34, with a 19-11 edge on the offensive end that led to 18 second change points for the Cardinals.
Louisville was led in scoring by senior De'Shayne Montgomery who scored 20 points in his first outing in a Cardinal jersey. He went 5 of 8 from the floor, including a 3 of 4 mark beyond the arc. He added four boards, four assists and a block.
Bidunga was a force defensively with 10 rebounds and six blocks. He completed his double-double with 18 points on 77.7% shooting. He tacked on four assists and a steal to finish his stat line.
The exhibition game against the Bahamas Raw Talent team completed Louisville's summer practice session together. The Cardinals will return to the floor this fall, beginning with an exhibition game at Kansas on October 21.
