Cardinal Mallory Comerford won a silver medal as part of the USA's 4x200 free relay with teammate Grigory Tarasevich winning gold for Russia as a prelim swimmer in the 4x50 medley relay team at the FINA Short Course World Championships in Windsor, Canada. Â

Kelsi Worrell won the second heat with a time of 55.80, almost a second ahead of the rest of the field but just .02 ahead of first heat winner Katinka Hosszu of Hungary in the semifinals of the women's 100m butterfly. She will be the top seed in tomorrow's final.

In the 4x200 free relay, Louisville's Mallory Comerford laid down the fastest split for the Americans with a 1:53.32 to help the USA to a silver medal with a time of 7:38.65. Leah Smith led off with a 1:54.87, followed by Comerford, Sarah Gibson (1:55.43) and an anchor by Madisyn Cox 1:55.03.

UofL's Grigory Tarasevich won a gold medal as a prelim swimmer in the 4x50 medley relay. In the finals, the Russians put up the winning time of 1:31.52.

In the 50-breast semi-finals, Cardinal Carlos Claverie finished 14th with 26.86.

Tomorrow's prelims will include the women's 4x50 freestyle relay, 200-men's backstroke 200-women's breaststroke Men's Medley 4x100 men's medley relay.
