Graduate goalkeeper named to CoSIDA Academic All-America Second Team
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville graduate goalkeeper Stefan Cleveland was named Tuesday to the 2016 Academic All-America Division I men's soccer team by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
A second team Academic All-America selection, Cleveland is pursuing an MBA at Louisville after completing his degree in engineering with a 3.72 GPA at Dartmouth College, where he played three seasons prior to joining the Cardinals for the 2016 season. Cleveland became the second UofL player in the last three seasons to earn Academic All-America accolades joining Joachim Ball, who was a second team selection in 2014.
On the field, Cleveland is ranked 11th nationally in goals against average at 0.633 while starting all 20 matches and playing every minute in goal for the No. 4 Cardinals. Cleveland has registered 10 shutouts this season, the most for a Louisville goalkeeper since Andre Boudreaux had 11 in 2011.
The Louisville men's soccer team returns to action on Sunday at 5 p.m., ET at Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium with an NCAA Championship third round match against No. 13 Notre Dame. Tickets are available through the Louisville Cardinals Ticket Office at GoCards.com.
