Cardinals set to compete in the NCAA Regional

The Field: The race features 35 men's teams and 38 women's teams from the Southeast Region. The men's race features two ranked teams with No. 16 Virginia and No. 27 North Carolina State, while Kentucky and Virginia Tech received votes. The women's race features one ranked team with No. 2 North Carolina State, while William & Mary received votes in the national poll.

After finishing fourth in the women's race and seventh in the men's race at the ACC Championships in Cary, NC, both teams will be back in action Friday at the NCAA Division I Cross Country Southeast Regional Championships. The women's 6K event begins at 11:00 a.m. with the men's 10K event following at 12:00 p.m.

Freshman Dorcas Wasike led the women with personal best 20:14.7, good enough for an eighth place finish and first team All-ACC honors. Junior Bailey Davis also posted a personal best time of 20:43.4 to finish 22nd. Â Sophomore Caroline Gosser finished 34th for the Cardinals with a personal best time of 21:02.8.

Senior Edwin Kibichiy led the men's team with a second place finish. He posted a personal best and school record time of 22:52.2, and finished only two tenths of a second behind Syracuse's Justyn Knight. Senior Calvin Chemoiywo also earned first team All-ACC honors with a 14th place finish, with a personal best 23:34.1. Senior George Yator clocked a personal best time of 24:24.7 to finish 46th.
