Lauren Hartlage shot an even-par 72 in the third round and finished the event with a 7-under-par 209.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Freshman Lauren Hartlage needed only three tournaments to etch her name into the Cardinals' record book.
The University of Louisville women's golfer capped the Cougar Classic on Tuesday with a 7-under-par 209, the best three-round score by a freshman in school history. Hartlage finished tied for fourth overall in the 108-player field at Yeamans Hall Club in Hanahan, S.C.
The Elizabethtown, Ky., native, who shot an even-par 72 on the final day, had the sixth best score all-time in a three-round tournament for a women's golfer. She recorded a remarkable 4.42 average on par-5 holes. Arguably, the highlight of her day came when she carded an eagle on No. 18, a par-5, 460-yard hole.
Collectively, the Cardinals landed a 10th-place finish out of 21 teams, scoring an 8-over-par 872. Louisville, which totaled a 7-over-par 295, was one of four Atlantic Coast Conference teams in the top 10, including champion North Carolina.
Junior Molly Skapik also shot an even-par 72 on Tuesday, helping her climb 13 spots to a tie for 31st at the tournament. She finished with a 2-over-par 218. Sophomores Jacqueline Twitty and Olivia Cason rounded out the Cardinals' scoring, finishing with a 6-over-par 222 and 7-over-par 223, respectively.
Louisville returns to action in 10 days, when it travels east to compete in the Tar Heel Invitational from Oct. 14-16 in Chapel Hill, N.C.
