Women’s Golf Sitting in Ninth at Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational

The Cardinals tee off Saturday for the second round of play at 9:09 a.m. ET.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Sophomore Jacqueline Twitty shot a season-best 3-under-par 69 on Friday at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational, helping the University of Louisville women's golf team to ninth through one round of play in Chapel Hill, N.C.
Twitty, who is tied for fourth, compiled a remarkable performance on the back nine. After hitting a bogey on No. 9 to open the day, one of only two through 18 holes, she tapped in a birdie on No. 14 and then fired three consecutively on Nos. 16, 17, and 18. She added one more birdie to close the day, giving her five for the second-highest total in the 96-player field.
Louisville, after a slow start collectively, concluded the opening round with a 7-over-par 295 and is 13 strokes behind the clubhouse leader Wake Forest. Currently, the Cardinals are ahead of No. 12 North Carolina and No. 41 LSU.
Lauren Hartlage continued her solid play from last week. The freshman tallied three birdies en route to shooting a 1-under-par 71. It's her fourth-consecutive round even or below par, giving her a team-leading five on the season.
Shannon Gramley, who is tied for 68th with a 5-over-par 77, and Molly Skapik, tied for 77th behind a 6-over-par 78, rounded out the team's scoring.
The Cardinals return to action for the second round on Saturday, teeing off with Duke and Tennessee at 9 a.m.
