
Louisville Seeded No. 3 in ACC Men’s Soccer Championship

Cardinals will host winner of Virginia-NC State in quarterfinal at Lynn Stadium on Sunday, Nov. 6 at 1 p.m., ET
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's soccer team will enter the postseason as the No. 3 seed in the 2016 Atlantic Coast Conference Championship, which kicks off Wednesday night with four first round matches.
The Cardinals (11-4-2, 5-2-1 ACC), ranked seventh nationally in this week's NSCAA Top 25, has a first round bye and will host a quarterfinal match at Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium on Sunday, Nov. 6 at 1 p.m., ET. Louisville's opponent in the quarterfinal contest will be the winner of the first round match between No. 11 NC State (5-11-0, 1-7-0) and No. 6 Virginia (9-2-5, 3-2-3) on Wednesday in Charlottesville.
North Carolina and Wake Forest hold the top two seeds respectively in the 30th edition of the championship as the divisional winners this season. Top-seeded North Carolina (11-2-3, 5-1-2 ACC), currently ranked No. 3 in the country, earned the Coastal Division title with 17 points and will host a quarterfinal match against the winner of No. 9 Virginia Tech (10-4-3, 3-4-1) and No. 8 Boston College (7-7-2, 3-3-2).
Wake Forest (12-2-3, 5-1-2) finished the regular season with 17 points to claim the Atlantic Division title. The second-ranked and No. 2 seed Demon Deacons will host the winner of No. 10 Duke (7-7-2, 2-5-1) and No. 7 Notre Dame (10-5-2, 3-3-2) in the quarterfinals.
Clemson (11-2-4, 4-1-3), the 2015 NCAA runner-up, earned the No. 4 seed and will host the winner of No. 5 Syracuse (10-3-3, 3-2-3) and No. 12 Pitt (2-12-3, 0-6-2). The Tigers and defending ACC Champion Orange are ranked No. 5 and No. 6 in the nation, respectively, and both reached the College Cup in 2015.
The first two rounds (Nov. 2, Nov. 6), along with the semifinals on Wednesday, Nov. 9, will be held at the campus of the higher seed. The championship is set for Sunday, Nov. 13, at MUSC Health Stadium in Charleston, South Carolina, and will be televised nationally on ESPNU.
