Josh Hall leads the Cardinals with a win in the 400m while Edwin Kibichiy and Jade Hawkins set new school records
Bloomington, Ind. – The University of Louisville track and field teams wrapped up the final day at the Indiana Relays with a win in the men's 400m, two new school records and eight Top-3 finishes. Josh Hall won his first event of the year in the 400m run while Edwin Kibichiy set a new school record in the mile run and Jade Hawkins tied the pole vault school record.
"Both squads continued to grow this weekend and we had several outstanding performances," said head coach Dale Cowper. "It was exciting to watch Edwin and Jade put their names in the school record book. Dolly Nyemah was outstanding in the weight throw. She is solidifying her position as one of the best throwers in the country. Most of the squad will have next weekend off as only the multi-event athletes, pole vaulters, and throwers will head to Akron and the men's 4x400m relay team will look for big things at the Meyo Invitational."
Hall led the men with a win in the 400m dash with a time of 48.25. Teammate Andrew Nsuk finished third with a time of 48.34. Kibichiy set a new school record in the mile run, finishing fifth with a time of 4:05.49. He broke Luc Schout's record of 4:06.10 set in 2008.
Dolly Nyemah's third throw of the day gave her a second place finish in the weight throw. Her mark of 21.58m/70-09.75 was a new personal best and currently ranks second in the nation in the weight throw. Jade Hawkins led the Cardinals in the pole vault with a third place finish. Hawkins finished with a personal best mark of J4.12m/13-06.25, tying the school record set by teammate Chanel Krause last season. Krause finished behind Hawkins with a mark of 4.02m/13-02.25 for a fourth place finish.
Kelsey Cramsey was the top collegiate finisher in the women's 800m run. She finished second with a season best time of 2:10.31. Raven Grant had another successful day, finishing second in the 60m dash with a time of 7.56. Javen Reeves had a second place finish as well in the high jump with a personal best mark of 2.11m/6-11.00.
Teague Peck finished third in the men's 800m run. Peck finished with a season best time of 1:52.81. Brianne Brown finished fourth in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.65.
