Cards have fourth golfers finish in the top 30
SUGAR GROVE, Ill. - Led by four players finishing in the top 30, the University of Louisville men's golf team got its 2015-16 season off to an encouraging start by placing sixth at the highly-competitive Northern Intercollegiate held at Rich Harvest Farms on Sunday.
Newcomers Patrick Frodigh and Simon Zach tied for 29th overall with scores of 11-over par 227, while Hugo Esposito was tied for 45th with a 15-over par 231.
Louisville's next competition will be in the SEC-ACC Challenge on Sept. 25-27 in Kingston Springs, Tenn.
Louisville totaled a 54-hole score of 37-over par 901 (308-288-305) to finish competitive in a very strong field. The Cardinals were five shots behind ACC foe Virginia, who finished fifth. Illinois won tournament with a 7-under par 857, while Purdue was second and UCLA was third. Houston was fourth at 29-over par 893.
Louisville was led by J.D. Lehman's T-16th finish at 7-over par 223 (74-73-76), while Robin Sciot-Siegrist ended the tournament tied for 22nd with a 9-over par (77-70-78).
