Hi Cardinal Fans! It's Roxanne McVey!
I hope everyone was able to make it out to our red and black scrimmage yesterday! First off, I'd like to point out that if you haven't been on campus lately and got to go for our scrimmage I'm sure you were blown away because campus is looking absolutely beautiful with all the new improvements that the university has made. Campus is really a sight to see right now.
Secondly, being a graduating senior this December, that was my last scrimmage as a U of L volleyball player. It was such a bittersweet moment. The team this year is looking so good and I'm so extremely excited and can't wait to get our games rolling. We have so many new girls this year but I can truly say I've never been on a team that gets along and gels as much as the group of girls we have this year. I can't imagine a senior season with anyone else and I'm so happy to be apart of this Cardinal family.
Before our scrimmage yesterday we had Fan Day. It is always exciting to get to see all of our fans and be a part of a program that has so much support from every angle. It's always nice talking to the fans we have, but I'm not going to lie, myself along with all of my teammates attention was a little distracted.
This year at fan day there were these huge bouncy blow up slides. I can honestly say I've never seen my teammates have so much fun before. We had trains of girls going down the slides along with dunk contests. I had the U of L Volleyball snap chat and if you don't already follow that account, you 100% should. I made sure to document everything.
Today is an off day that is much needed from how much our bodies have been pushing the last two weeks. This morning a lot of the girls are going to get treatment from Nicole Lowrey, who's been an absolute saint these past two weeks because she's helped us so much with the recovery process and helping our bodies feel better. Yesterday was our official last day of two a days. Next week we will start our preparation for Illinois and the team is super stoked to start preparing for our first official match. I can't wait to get my senior season started!!!
Love you Cardinal family!! Roxanne McVey
