
Worrell Named ACC Women's Swimmer of the Year

The awards for break-out swimmer Kelsi Worrell keep rolling in as she was among the Atlantic Coast Conference's 10 individuals who were recipients of the 2015 ACC Swimming & Diving Annual awards as determined by a vote of the league's head coaches.
Louisville's recognition came from Kelsi Worrell, the Women's Swimmer of the Year. Miami's Samuel Dorman and Randy Ableman earned recognition, as they received Men's Diver of the Year and Men's Diving Coach of the Year, respectively. Virginia's Jennifer Marrkand and Augie Busch were honored, as they brought home Women's Freshman of the Year and Women's Swimming Coach of the Year, respectively. Virginia Tech also had two honorees, with Kaylea Arnett and Ron Piemonte earning honors as the Women's Diver of the Year and Women's Diving Coach of the Year. NC State garnered three accolades, as Braden Holloway was tabbed as the Men's Coach of the Year, Simonas Bilis earned Men's Swimmer of the Year and Anton Ipsen was named Men's Freshman of the Year.
In her inaugural ACC campaign, Kelsi Worrell was the champion in the 100 butterfly and 100 freestyle, setting ACC records in both events at the ACC women's swimming & diving championships in Greensboro. She was the 2015 NCAA Champion in the 100 and 200 butterfly, setting the American and NCAA record in the 100 butterfly. She earned All-American status in three individual events and three relays. She was a two-time ACC Swimmer of the Week. Last fall, Kelsi was named to the US National Team for this summer's 2015 Pan American Games and is a Honda Award Finalist. Kelsi has been named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll every semester, a Red & Black Scholar-Athlete three times and a two-time CSCAA Scholar All-American. As a junior Exercise Science major, she is a three-time Dean's List recipient.
