"It is a bittersweet feeling," said UofL Arthur Albiero. "On one hand, we are disappointed with the overall finish, but on the other hand, I could not be prouder of how this group of men performed all week. We battled some adversity early in the meet, but again, our seniors were unbelievable leaders."
Grigory Tarasevich, who broke a school record in prelims, put up a 1:40.96 for 11th place to earn Honorable Mention All-American status. Ryan Murphy of California set a new American record (1:36.77) for the win followed by Sean Lehane of Tennessee (1:39.20) and David Nolan of Stanford (1:39.59).

In the final event of the three-day championship, the 400-free relay, the Cards dropped .22 off of their prelim time and 1.85 off their entry time to hit the wall in 2:51.26 posted by Matthias Lindenbauer (43.50), Trevor Carroll (42.83), Thomas Dahlia (42.35) and Rudy Edelen (42.58).
"Even though the relay was not a school record, we are beaming with pride for the level those four guys performed," said Albiero.
