
Track Completes Day 1 at Alabama Relays

The Louisville men's and women's track and field teams concluded their first day of outdoor competition at the Alabama Relays with a top-five finish Friday in Tuscaloosa.
Junior Katie Wimpari was the top finisher for the Cardinals on the day as she finished fifth in the women's javelin with a mark of 38.28m/125-7.
In the first event of the day, senior Brad Vivace finished ninth in the men's hammer throw with a distance of 57.91m/190-0. Sophomore teammate Darrius Lopez finished 15th with a mark of 54.83m/179-10 while junior Nils Westrich finished 17th with a mark of 54.09m/177-5. Redshirt sophomore Trevor Troutman finished 19th with a distance of 51.08m/167-7 in the hammer throw.
Redshirt junior Rachel Serafin led the Cardinals in the women's hammer throw with a sixth place finish with a distance of 53.09m/174-2. Redshirt sophomore Dolly Nyemah competed in her first hammer throw event and finished 14th with a distance of 47.17m/154-9.
The meet continues on Friday evening with the women's 4x200m relay and the women's triple jump beginning at 5 p.m.
