LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville women's golf team is heading to the state of Florida for the third time this spring, participating in the three-day Hurricane Invitational in Miami, Fla.
The Cardinals begin competition at the par-71, 6,070-yard Biltmore Golf Course on Monday. In the 54-hole tournament, Louisville faces a slew of teams: Ole Miss, Iowa State, Daytona State, Kennesaw State, Campbell, South Florida, Penn State, East Carolina, Michigan, Illinois, and Middle Tennessee State.
Louisville will utilize a starting lineup of Molly Skapik, Laura Restrepo, Katie Petrino, Katie Mitchell, and Emily Haas, and Louise Oxner is slated to play as an individual. Skapik is the first student-athlete scheduled to tee off at 8:10 a.m.
"We're excited to play this week," head coach Courtney Trimble said. "It's a good field on a great golf course, and this is an opportunity to compete against some really solid teams. We feel very prepared and are looking forward to a great week."
Live scoring will be available through BirdieFire.com.
Louisville opened the spring campaign in early February and is coming off a dual victory over Kentucky on Feb. 22 in the inaugural Battle of the Bluegrass State in Port St. Lucie, Fla. The Cardinals edged the Wildcats by six strokes for the title.
Individually, Haas and Mitchell earned co-champion honors with 2-over-par 74 performances. Petrino tied for fourth with a 5-over-par 77.
Through seven events this year, Restrepo is carrying a team-best 73.94 stroke average. The junior has placed in the top 10 three times. Haas is second in stroke average (74.17), but has a team-high four top-10 finishes. Mitchell rounds out the top three averages, boasting a 75.00.
