Lancaster, Lock and Quang go undefeated in singles
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The University of Louisville men's tennis team picked up seven wins on day one of Vanderbilt's Commodore Scramble Friday.
"Our players were competing for 10 hours today," said UofL head coach Rex Ecarma. "There were some long, brutal matches but that will help the developmental process. We had a winning record today and each player gave his very best. That is all that I can ask. Brandon, Michael and Courtney were all 2-0 but Santi had our biggest individual win versus Vanderbilt."
With doubles play cancelled due to rain, the Cardinals played two rounds of singles. Freshmen Brandon Lancaster and Michael Quang and sophomore Courtney Lock registered two wins each to lead Louisville on the day.
Lancaster defeated Alabama's Matthew Rossouw 6-1, 5-7, 12-10 and Middle Tennessee's Robin Reithmueller 7-5, 6-3. Quang posted a 1-6, 6-4, 10-3 win over Alabama's Langford Hills and beat Middle Tennessee's Luis Morillo Diaz 7-5, 6-2. Lock bested
Courtney Lock registered a 6-3, 6-4 win over Middle Tennessee Diaz and beat Vanderbilt's Vikram Chari 3-6, 6-1, 10-5.
Sophomore Santiago Salazar defeated Vanderbilt's Kristopher Lee 6-7, 6-1, 10-8.
