Men's Tennis Collects Seven Wins on Day Two of Commodore Scramble

George Hedley goes undefeated in singles and doubles

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Freshman George Hedley went undefeated in singles and doubles to help the University of Louisville men's tennis team pick up seven wins on day two of Vanderbilt's Commodore Scramble Saturday.

"It was our second day with a winning individual record," said UofL head coach Rex Ecarma. "These guys continue to battle and work. Courtney and George led us in doubles and were our best team today and Michael earned a signature win against a very good player from Vanderbilt who has won a lot of big matches in the SEC. We want to finish strong tomorrow."

In doubles action, sophomore Courtney Lock and George Hedley picked up a pair of wins, beating Alabama's Hayes Brewer and Sam Edwards 8-6 and Vanderbilt's Baker Newman and Daniel Valent 8-4.
Sophomore Santiago Salazar and freshman Michael Quang registered an 8-2 win over Middle Tennessee's Jacob Pugh and Guillermo Artiz Mateo.

In singles, Quang defeated Vanderbilt's Rhys Johnson 4-6, 7-6, 6-2. Freshman Brandon Lancaster beat Middle Tennessee's Gonzalo Raschiatora 2-6, 6-2, 6-2. Freshman Christian Haushammer bested Lipscomb's John Tougher 6-1, 6-0 and Hedley topped Middle Tennessee Guillermo Mateo 6-4, 6-4.

The tournament will conclude Sunday.
