Cards sit seven shots behind the leader Wake Forest
PRINCEVILLE, Hawaii – TThe University of Louisville men's golf team began its final tournament of the fall semester by finishing first round action in fifth place at the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational on the Hawaiian island of Kauai. The Cardinals shot 3-under for the first round and are just seven shots off the lead.
WAke Forest is the leader after the first round of action by shooting a 10-under 278, while Alabama is second after its round of 7-under par 281. Cal Poly and Pepperdine are tied for third with a 4-under 284. The Cardinals are just one shot back of third place and seven shots out of the overall lead.
Robin Sciot-Siegrist, Hugo Esposito and J.D. Lehman led the way for the Cardinals, both finishing in a tie for 17th after round one by shooting a 1-under par 71. Patrick Frodigh shot an even par 72 to tie for 25th overall. Simon Zach is tied for 79th after shooting a 6-over 78.
The tournament continues Tuesday and concludes Wednesday at the Makai Golf Club.
