Louisville Paired with Duke in ACC Championship Opener

Kickoff set for Wednesday at 7 p.m., ET in Durham for first round match
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville men's soccer team earned the No. 9 seed in the 2015 ACC Championship and will open the tournament with a first round match at No. 8 seed Duke on Wednesday at 7 p.m., ET in Durham, N.C.
It will be the first match between the Cardinals (6-8-3, 1-4-3 ACC) and Blue Devils (10-6-2, 3-4-1) since Louisville's 5-0 win at home in last season's ACC opener at Lynn Stadium. Wake Forest (14-1-2, 6-0-2) won the ACC Atlantic Division title and is the No. 1 seed in the ACC Championship after closing the regular season with 20 points overall. The Demon Deacons will host the winner of the Louisville-Duke match in a quarterfinal contest on Nov. 8.
Second-seeded North Carolina earned the Coastal Division title with 19 points and will host a quarterfinal match against the winner of No. 10 NC State (8-5-3, 1-4-3) and No. 7 Syracuse (10-5-2, 3-4-1). Clemson (14-1-2, 6-1-1), the defending league champion, claimed the No. 3 seed with 19 points in ACC play. The Tigers will host sixth-seeded Boston College (9-6-1, 4-4-0) in the quarterfinals. No. 4 Notre Dame (9-3-5, 4-2-2) will host No. 5 Virginia (9-3-3, 4-2-2) in the quarterfinals in a matchup of the last two national champions.
All four rounds of the ACC Championship will be held on the campus of the higher seed. The first round will be held on Nov. 4 at 7 p.m., followed by the quarterfinals on Nov. 8 at 1 p.m., the semifinals on Nov. 11 at 7 p.m., and the championship on Nov. 15 at 1 p.m.
The 10 teams in the ACC Championship are all ranked in the top 30 spots of the NCAA RPI and all have been ranked this season in a national poll. The league squads have combined to post a 75-19-11 (.767) record against nonconference competition, the best mark in the country.
