
Varsity Eight, Varsity Four Boats Strong at Head of the Eagle

Cardinals earn five wins in their seven events during Saturday’s action in Indianapolis
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Louisville rowing team won five of the seven events it entered, including all four varsity races, during Saturday's Head of the Eagle regatta at Eagle Creek Park.
Leading the way on Saturday were the Cardinals' top two varsity eight boats, which finished first and second in the collegiate eight "A" race. Louisville's "A" boat finished with a time of 16:34.00, while the "B" boat was next at 17:18.00. Grand Valley State was third in the field of nine boats with a time of 17:45.00. In the collegiate eight "B" race, Louisville had a time of 16:34.00 to defeat a field of five other boats as Purdue was next at 18:28.00.
In Saturday's collegiate four "A" event, the Cardinals swept the top three spots in a field of 11 crews overall with the "A" boat leading the way with a time of 18:24.00. The "B" boat was second at 18:28.00 and was followed by Louisville's "C" boat at 19:07.00 and Dayton in fourth at 19:36.00. The Cardinals also swept the top three positions in the collegiate four "B" race with the "A" crew finishing with a first-place time of 18:28.00. The "C" boat was second in the field of seven with a time of 19:00.00 and was followed by the "B" crew in third at 19:18.00 and Grand Valley in fourth at 20:43.00.
The Cardinals also earned a win on Saturday in the novice four "A" event finishing with a time of 19:58.00 to finish ahead of a field of seven other boats, while second place was Grand Valley with a time of 20:58.00. In the novice four "B" race, Louisville was second with a time of 22:13.00, while Grand Valley earned the win with a time of 21:48.00. In their only other race of the day, the Cardinals were third in the novice eight "A" event with a time of 20:22.00, while Purdue paced the way at 19:37.00.
Up next, Louisville will conclude its fall racing schedule on Nov. 15 at the University of Virginia's Rivanna Romp in Charlottesville, Va.
