
Women's Soccer Travels to Wake Forest

Cardinals wrap up the regular season at Wake Forest on Saturday
LOUISVILLE, KY. -- The University of Louisville women's soccer team wrap up the regular season with a road matchup against Wake Forest on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. Louisville enters the match with an overall record of 8-7-2 and a 4-4-1 record in ACC play after snapping a two-game losing streak against the top two teams in the country with a 1-0 victory over NC State on Sunday afternoon.
Freshman forward Jill Vetere scored her second goal of the season in the 30th minute and goalie Taylor Bucklin recorded five saves en route to her fifth shutout of the season. For the season, 11 different Cardinals have scored this season with five players leading the balanced attack by recording two goals. Rachel Avant (1 goal, 4 assists) and redshirt-senior Casey Whitfield (2 goals, 2 assists) leads the team with six points. Sophomore Alison Price adds two goals and assist for five points. Sophomore Isabella Habuda, freshmen Gabrielle Vincent and Jill Vetere add four points apiece for the team. Junior goalkeeper Taylor Bucklin (67 saves) has seen the majority of the time in goal and has a .859 save percentage and boasts a 0.89 goals against average.
 Head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes is in her 16th season with the Cardinals. She has guided Louisville to four NCAA Tournament appearances, including a Sweet 16 appearance in 2011.

SCOUTING WAKE FOREST
Wake Forest enters the match on a  10 game losing streak and a 4-12-2 overall record. The Demon Deacons are 1-8 in conference play. Sophomore forward Sarah Medina leads the team with 11 points on a team-best four goals and three assists. Sophomore forward Kahla Seymour adds a team-high four assists with two goals for eight points. Junior midfielder Sarah Teegarden, Senior midfielder Katie Dry, and sophomore defender Ally Haran each add two goals apiece for the Demon Deacons. Sophomore Lindsay Preston (42 saves) and freshman goalkeeper Nonie Frishette (39 saves) both see time in goal with the two combining for a 1.17 goals against average.    Â
Tony da Luz is in his 19th season as the women's soccer head coach at Wake Forest. He has led to the Demon Deacons to 17 NCAA Tournament appearances in his tenure.

The Cardinals and Demon Deacons will meet for the third time in series history. The last time the two teams met, Wake Forest took a 2-0 victory in a non-conference match back in 2007.
