Men's Golf Rallies to Second-Place Finish at Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate

Robin Sciot-Siegrist finishes in a tie for second place after shooting 6-under par
JOHNSON CITY, TENN. -Â Senior Robin Sciot-Siegrist finished in a tie for second place as the University of Louisville men's golf team rallied to a second-place standing at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate on Sunday in Johnson City, Tenn.
After getting off to a slow start in the tournament, the Cardinals rallied on Saturday and Sunday to finish in second-place overall, just 12 strokes behind tournament champion Penn State. After firing a 5-over par 293 on Friday, the Cardinals shot 13-under par over the next two days to jump into second place. The Cardinals shot an 8-under par 291-282-281=856 for the entire tournament to finish ahead of third-place Tennessee, who shot 861. Virginia was fourth with a score of 864 and Missouri was fifth at 865.
"I'm real proud of the team," head coach Mark Crabtree said. "We had strong final last two days and everyone contributed. Â Robin (Sciot-Siegrist) continued his outstanding play and consistency. J.D. (Lehman) had one of his best events with back to back 69s and our two freshman were much better this week. Â Patrick (Frodigh)responded with a solid final rd 72 showing improvement."
Sciot-Siegrist finished the three-day tournament at 6-under par 70-72-68=210 to tie with Penn's State's Chris Houston for second. East Tennessee's Adrian Meronk took home meadlist honors by carding 74-66-69=209.
Sciot-Siegrist posted three straight birdies on the last three holes of the front nine Sunday to propel him to his best round of the tournment. It was his ninth top five finish of his career and the best tying for the ACC Championship last season when he carded 205.
J.D. Lehman finished in the top 10 by carding 4-under par to tie for ninth overall. He shot 74-69-69=212 to post his best finish since a 12th-place standing at the Boilermaker Invitational last season.
Simon Zach tied for 17th after shooting 74-68-72=214 and Hugo Esposito was tied for 36th after shooting 75-73-72=220. Patrick Frodigh tied for 62nd overall when he fired 76-78-72=226.
The Cardinals are off until they travel to Hawaii on Nov. 2-4 for the Warrior Wave Invitational.
