Volleyblog Features Tara Gowan
August 15, 2014 | Women's Volleyball
Hey Cards fans! It's your one and only Canadian, Tara Gowan from Fredericton, New Brunswick, and it's now my turn to write today's Volleyblog.
Today was our first day off during preseason and also the end of our first cycle of three days on. So it was a well-deserved break for the team and a great day for recovery as well.
This morning we got to sleep in longer and have a nutritious breakfast at 9 a.m. made by our sports performance coach, Zach Farrel. After breakfast, he then took us through some well-needed regeneration exercises that included a lot of foam rolling and stretches, topped off with another of our many ice baths.
Today was also the last day of summer classes for most of the girls including myself which was very exciting. I was so happy to be done and have one less thing off of my back for the summer especially during preseason.
Training has been great so far working with the girls and the coaches. Every session the team brings such intensity and energy to the court that is so contagious and positive. The girls are for sure what have made this adjustment for me as a new player so awesome. Couldn't have asked for a better support system and coaching staff as well!
I am a senior on the team and really look forward for this upcoming year and our upcoming season. Its already been an amazing experience and I know exciting things are in store for us!
Can't wait to see you all in the stands and go Cards!
