
Softball Falls 5-1 to UCF

0ORLANDO, Fla. - The University of Louisville softball team fell 5-1 to UCF in the rubber-game of an American Athletic Conference series Sunday afternoon. The Cardinals drop to 28-17 (9-6 AAC).
The teams played through five and a half scoreless innings before UCF (33-14, 93-3) broke through, using six hits, including Jessica Ujvari's grand slam to score five runs in the bottom of the sixth. Entering the home half of the inning, Louisville starting pitcher Maryssa Becker had allowed only one hit, a single in the second inning. Kahley Novak got the bottom of the sixth started with a single and infield hits by Linnea Goodman and Farrah Sullivan loaded the bases for Ujvari who sent a shot over right field to give the Knights a 4-0 lead. Mariah Garcia singled, stole second, took third on Samantha McCloskey's hit and scored on an error to make the score 5-0.
Taner Fowler connected on her sixth home run of the season to put the Cardinals on the scoreboard in the top of the seventh.
Maryssa Becker (12-4) took the loss, allowing five runs, four earned, on six hits and striking out six in 5.0 innings. Fowler was 1 for 3 with a run and an RBI.
