Women's Golf Begins Spring Season at Central Division Invitational

Six Louisville golfers will travel to Bradenton, Fla. to compete in Central District Invitational, hosted by Michigan State. The tournament will be played on the Cypress Links Course at Lakewood Ranch.
The field will complete a total of 54 holes on Monday, February 17 and Tuesday, February 18 at the par 72 and 6,325 yard course. Louisville will not be the only American Athletic Conference team in attendance, as UCF, Houston, Rutgers, and SMU will also be competing.
The Cardinals' lineup for the Central District Invitational consists of five athletes competing in the team event and one athlete competing individually. Sophomore Laura Restrepo will play the top spot while junior Emily Haas will play at the second slot. Junior Katie Petrino will play at the third spot while freshman Louise Oxner will start in the fourth spot. Senior Tara Lyons rounds out the starters in the fifth slot. Freshman Emily Kurey will compete as an individual.
Restrepo led all Cardinals this fall with a 71.7 stroke average. She shot a season-low of 67 twice and took first place overall in both the IU Fall Kickoff and the Cardinal Cup. Haas and Petrino finished tied for second on the team with a stroke average of 73.1. Haas shot a season-low 66 for the first round of the Cardinal Cup and finished tied for second place as a result of the round. She finished the season with two Top Ten finishes. Petrino saw two Top Ten finishes during the fall season, including a second place finish at the IU Fall Kickoff. She shot a season-low of 69 for the first round of the Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate.
Oxner and Kurey will both be competing in their second tournament of the spring, as both athletes represented Louisville in Athens, Ga. at the Lady Bulldog Individual Championship. Oxner led all Cardinals at the tournament and tied for eighth place with an overall score of 152. She finished five strokes behind the leaders. Kurey finished tied for 14th place and finished only three strokes behind Oxner with a final score of 155.
Lyons finished the fall season in fifth on the team with a stroke average of 74.3. She shot a season-low of 69 for the first round of the IU Fall Kickoff and finished in third place for the tournament.
