
Swimming and Diving Complete Day 2 Prelims

After the second day of prelims at the Louisville Invitational, the University of Louisville put 38 swimmers in the A-finals tonight at the Ralph Wright Natatorium.
The Cardinals had the fastest time in six of the 10 events contested this morning.
In the women's 400-IM, Tanja Kylliainen blew away the field with a 4:08.19, eight seconds faster than the next competitor. Teammate Abigail Chin was third in 4:15.13 and Marah Pugh qualified sixth to make tonight's A-finals.
Missouri State's Uvis Kalnins boarded the top time for the men's 400-IM with a 3:55.52 with Nolan Tesone touching third in 3:57.49 as the top Cardinal. Jake Schultz and Bryan Draganosky both made the A-final with times of 4:01.49 and 4:03.91 respectively.
In the women's 100 fly, Kelsi Worrell put up an NCAA B-cut time of 52.41 with teammate Tanja Kylliainen qualifying second in 53.39, also a B-cut. Erica Belcher made the third Card to make the A-final with a time of 55.25 for sixth.
In the men's 100 fly, UofL's Pedro Coutinho put up a B-cut time of 46.64 as the top qualifier. Aaron Young was second in 46.81, also a B-cut. Josh Quallen (48.81), Aaron Greene (49.21) and David Boland (49.35) will round out the A-final for the Cards.
In the 200-freestyle, Andrea Kneppers boarded the top qualifying time with a B-cut 1:47.48. Abigail Houck was second in 1:48.81, Alex Sellers was fifth in 1:49.91 and Rachel Grooms made the A-final with a sixth place time of 1:50.51.
In the men's 200-freestyle, SIU's Till Pallmann was the fastest with a 1:37.47 B-cut time to earn the top seed in the event. Louisville's Matthias Lindenbauer was second in 1:37.59, Grigory Tarasevich (1:38.47), Rudy Edelen (1:39.49), Christian Garkani (1:39.50), Ruben Izarra (1:39.58) also made the A-final tonight.
In the women's 100-breaststroke, Lucy Kramer was the top Cardinal qualifier with a second place time of 1:03.05. Maggie Patterson was fourth in 1:04.57.
In the men's 100-breast, Thomas Dahlia put up the fastest of three NCAA b-cut in the event. Todd Owen was second with a 55.02 and WKU's Fabian Schwingenschlogl put up a 55.34. Addison Bray was fifth for the Cards in 55.76 and Brennen Berger was eighth with a 55.84.
In the 100-backstroke, WKU's Nadine Laemmler put up a 54.27 as the fastest seed in the event and a B-cut. Kristina Steins is the top Cardinal qualifier with a fourth place time of 55.16. Erica Belcher was sixth in the 55.38.
In the men's 100-backstroke, Aaron Young had the fastest time in the field with a 47.47 for a B-cut. Aaron Greene was second in 48.77, Christian Garkani gained the A-final with a third place time of 49.41. Ryan Massey (50.29) and Josh Quallen (50.47) also gained the A-final.
