Eleni Georgiafandis, a 5-3 libero from Knoxville, Tenn. , has joined the Cardinals this semester according to University of Louisville head coach Anne Kordes.
"I had the privilege of coaching Eleni back when she was 14 years old and she packs more spirit and competitiveness than players twice her size. She is a spark plug and a leader who will make an impact on our team with her talent for team chemistry," said U of L head coach Anne Kordes.
Georgiafandis joins the Cardinals from the K2 Volleyball Club where she captained her team club for Chris Hames and Tom Paszko. As a part of USA Volleyball, she was a High Performance Select A1 team for two years where she was coached by Kordes and also participated in the USA Holiday Camp.
Playing for Bearden High School and Coach Dave McGinnis, Georgiafandis earned All-State honors as a senior and was a finalist for Under Armour All-American. She was voted to the Under Armour Junior Phenom List and was an All-District team member as well as being the All-District Passer of the Year. She was named All-KIL Conference, was a team captain and was both a Defensive Player of the Year and the Freshman of the Year during her prep career.
