What's up Cards fans?!
Yesterday was a great day for UofL volleyball. We stayed the night in a cabin at Nolin lake. After a less than comfortable night's sleep, we woke up and ate breakfast as a team. Then, we had some meetings with the coaching staff to discuss our expectations for the season.
After this serious meeting, we were divided into 3 teams to compete against each other in a team building activity. In the activity, each team was given various sized cardboard boxes, a roll of tape, some markers and a balloon. Our instructions were to, using these items, create a boat in 30 minutes that one person from your team could take into the river without sinking.
I was on team Bullshark, named from Randi Ewing's fear of bullsharks being in the lake. She, Caitlin Welch, Carly Sahagian, and Brooke Betts were also on our squad. We tried hard, but I regret to say that we failed miserably. Let's just say it was apparent that none of us had any engineering background! Even with that said, everyone on our squad was able to contribute something to the group.
Carly did whatever anyone asked of her. She was part engineer, part problem solver. Brooke Betts with the help from Randi, created the sturdiest cardboard oar ever. My job was to create a logo for our team that would set our boat apart from everyone else's go-to Cardinal theme. Randi Ewing was also our head of sales department. It was her job to pitch the boat to the coaching staff in order to convince them that ours truly was the best looking boat of the three. Lastly, Welch was our fearless captain, who, even after our boat sank within the first two seconds, still tried to fake that our boat was holding her above the water. God love her!
We had the rest of the day off to travel home, rest and relax.
Overall, it was a great day and a half off and we were all ready to get back into the gym and get after it this morning. But I'll let Jaden tell you more about that later.
Thanks for stopping by and GO CARDS!
