We made it! Today marked the first off day of the preseason. To start the day, we were rewarded by being able to sleep in until 9 am. At that time we met at the Yum to chow down on some breakfast as a team. Zach Farrel, our strength coach, made us some of the most delicious (yet completely healthy smoothies) I have ever tasted to help our bodies recover from the past few days. My teammates and I stuffed our faces with fruit, cereal, muffins, and yogurt. All healthy of course!
While eating is the team's number one hobby, treatment and rehab rank a close second. So after devouring breakfast we went down to the gym, not to practice but to foam roll the daylights out of our bodies. Every muscle that Grey ever anatomized got rolled out, not only by a foam roller, but also with a baseball!
Ouch!
Following the rolling we all dove into the ice baths to our belly buttons to rid our bodies of lactic acid. Yes, it was painful and extremely cold (read: understatement), but it will be worth it during the next three days of double sessions.
We were free to do whatever we pleased the rest of the day. Some of the girls had finals to take while others had nothing pressing to do all day. I was in the nothing to do all day group and laying around watching movies with Hannah Kvitle suited me just fine.
(Some friendly advice: You cannot watch Bridesmaids too many times.) Other girls chose to see movies at the theaters.
Rest and staying off our feet are critical in preparing for the upcoming practice days.
7:30 bed time for everyone! Just kidding. Go Cards!
