NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The eighth-ranked Louisville baseball team arrived in the Music City on Friday afternoon in preparation for this weekend's NCAA Super Regional against No. 2 national seed Vanderbilt.
The Cardinals (49-12) and Commodores (54-10) will open the Nashville Super Regional on Saturday at 3 p.m., ET on ESPN, while game two of the best-of-three series is set for 4 p.m., ET on Sunday. If necessary, a deciding third game is set for Monday at 7 p.m., ET on ESPN2 with the winning team advancing to the College World Series in Omaha, Neb. Tickets for the entire Nashville Super Regional are sold out.
After making the short bus ride south on Interstate-65 to Nashville, the Cardinals conducted a 90-minute practice session at Hawkins Field on the Vanderbilt campus. With cloudy skies overhead and light rain throughout the afternoon, Louisville worked an energetic pace focusing on fundamentals and execution. Following practice, head coach Dan McDonnell, junior pitcher Chad Green and junior designated hitter Jeff Gardner talked with reporters on the field to preview the weekend series.
