
Four Cardinals Begin Play in National Amateur Events This Week

Louisville, Ky. - Four Cardinals begin competition this week in the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links and the WWG National Amateur Championship.
Rising Louisville senior Tara Lyons will compete in the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links beginning Monday. Lyons won her qualifier at the Eagle Creek Golf Club in Norwalk, Ohio., with a 71.
The 2013 Public Links will take place at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club (6,214/6,351 yards, par 72) in Norman Okla.
The WAPL will open Monday and Tuesday with two rounds of stroke play. The top 64 players then advance to the match play portion of the tournament. Each match is played over 18 holes except for the championship, which is a 36-hole match.
Katie Petrino, Laura Restrepo and Meghan Theiss will all compete in the WWGA 113th National Amateur Championship with 141 other players.
The 2013 WWGA National Amateur Championship will take place at the Dayton Country Club in Dayton, Ohio. The tournament course will be set at 5,948 yards with a par of 34-37-71.
Players from across the United States and several countries will be competing for the coveted W.A. Alexander Cup. The tournament will be played at scratch with 36-hole stroke-playing qualifying for match play. The low 64 players will constitute the Championship Flight with the final round being 36 holes which will take place on Saturday, June 22. All other players will qualify into flights of 16 players with the final round being 18 holes.
