
Stiefelmeyer and Wagner Earn BIG EAST All-Conference Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Sophomores Sebastian Stiefelmeyer and Albert Wagner were selected to the BIG EAST Men's Tennis All Conference team as announced by the league on April 25.
Stiefelmeyer (Vienna, Austria) was a unanimous selection for the second straight season. He compiled a 23-17 overall record in singles and a 12-12 mark as the Cards' No. 1 player. Stiefelmeyer spent every week in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association singles rankings reaching as high as No. 66. The three-time league Player of the Week and was also the Player of the Month for September.
Wagner (Amberg, Germany) earned his second straight all-conference honors after posting 16 singles wins and seven victories in dual matches. He was No. 120 in the preseason ITA singles rankings and reached as high as No. 31 in the doubles rankings with freshman Alex Gornet. Wagner also earned BIG EAST Player of the Week honors on Feb. 5.
"I am happy for Sebastian and Albert being named All-Conference by the Big East coaches," said U of L head coach Rex Ecarma. "I can tell you they are not satisfied by their overall performance but appreciate this prestigious honor. I am confident Sebastian and Albert will have a significantly performance in the NCAA Tournament if we are selected."
