Men's Tennis Set to Face No. 6 Oklahoma Friday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's tennis team will play host to No. 6 Oklahoma Friday at 5 p.m. at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
"Oklahoma is the best team in the Big 12 and a team that could potentially reach the Final Four or even the NCAA Championship match," said U of L head coach Rex Ecarma. "We won against them at Bass-Rudd in 2011 but we all need to bring our 'A' game to have a shot at this. We are excited to play and look forward to the challenge."
About Louisville
The Cardinals (9-7) enter the weekend at No. 41 in the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) team rankings. Louisville is coming off of a 4-3 victory over Indiana on Wednesday in which sophomore Michael Lippens clinched the deciding point. Alex Gornet, Sebastian Stiefelmeyer and Luis Elizondo also posted singles wins after the Cards lost the doubles point.
Sophomore Sebastian Stiefelmeyer stands at No. 101 in the latest ITA singles rankings with a 18-11 record in singles. Sophomore Chris Simich carries a team-best 19-10 record in singles and is 8-6 in dual matches, playing mostly at No. 3. Freshman Alex Gornet is 17-6 and 7-2 in dual match play.
Albert Wagner and Gornet are No. 48 in the doubles rankings with a 13-5 overall record, 6-4 mark in dual matches.
Cards against Oklahoma
Series Record: Tied 1-1
Last Meeting: March 12, 2012 - Oklahoma defeated the Cards 6-1 in Norman, Okla. Scouting the Sooners: Oklahoma enters the match at No. 6 in this week's Intercollegiate Tennis Association team rankings. The Sooners (9-3) are coming off of a 6-1 loss to top-ranked Virginia last Sunday. Costin Paval stands at No. 39 in the national singles rankings while Guillermo Alcorta is No. 61. Paval and Dane Webb are No. 52 in the doubles rankings.

The Cards will take a break before they hit the road to face No. 8 Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio on March 19.
Tough at Home
Louisville is 6-0 at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center in 2013. The Cards were 13-1 at the BRTC last season with their only loss coming to #3 Ohio State on Feb. 9, 2012. U of L started a new undefeated streak which currently stands at 16.
