
Men's Swimming Completes NCAA Day 2 Prelims

The University of Louisville team will swim twice tonight after Day 2 of preliminaries was complete at the NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships at the Indiana University Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI in Indianapolis, Ind.
BIG EAST Swimmer of the Year Joao De Lucca qualified 7th in the 200-free with a time of 1:33.85. There are just 7/10ths of a second between the top qualifier, Cristian Quintero of USC's 1:33.16 and De Lucca's time. De Lucca was the top qualifier entering the prelims today, having put up a 1:32.57 to lead the nation.
In the 100-breast, sophomore Addison Bray finished 36th with a time of 54.23. This event was so fast that the top qualifier, Kevin Cordes of Arizona set a new American record with a prelim time of 50.93, the first American to go under 51 seconds.
The Cards will also swim the 800-free relay tonight.
The men's championships will be held March 28-30 at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis. The Indiana Sports Corporation and IUPUI will serve as the co-hosts. A total of 270 participants (235 swimmers and 35 divers) will compete in the championships. Student-athletes qualified for the swimming portion of the championships by meeting the established minimum time for the events in which they entered. Divers were determined by performances achieved at the NCAA Zone Diving meets March 11-17.
ESPN3.com will stream the finals sessions Friday and Saturday live. Additionally, ESPNU will air a 90-minute show at 10 p.m. (PT) on April 10. Live results will be available throughout the meet at GoCards.com
