LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's tennis team defeated visiting Eastern Kentucky 4-0 Friday evening at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. The Cards (7-5) beat Wright State 7-0 in the first match of Friday's doubleheader.

"The very tough matches that we have played on the road is paying off," said U of L head coach Rex Ecarma. "The players were mentally tougher and showed it. I am happy with the entire team and the growth was evident. I hope we can take the momentum of three straight wins on the road in yet another hostile ACC venue in Clemson."

The 35th ranked Cards opened the second match of the day by winning the doubles point. Sophomore Luis Elizondo and freshman Austin Siegel won the first doubles match 8-2 against Eastern Kentucky's Lucas Smets and Jan Dombrowski at No. 2. The Cards clinched the point when the sophomore duo of Sebastian Stiefelmeyer and Van Damrongsri defeated Juanjo De La Llera and Alex Alvaro, 8-2 at No. 1.

Luis Elizondo was the first finished in singles bumping the Cards up 2-0 after defeating Ignacio Moreno 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5. Michael Lippens beat Smits 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2. The match was clinched at the top seed where Stiefelmeyer, No. 115 in the ITA single rankings, defeated Saidi 6-2, 6-4.

Louisville will travel to Clemson for an 11 a.m. match on Sunday.
